Ranger Group has some of the greatest employees and it’s time, once again, to recognize one of those team members! We are dedicating this Employee Spotlight to one of our Technology recruiters, Catherine Gallagher. Catherine started started with Ranger in February 2017.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the Plano/Frisco area my whole life.
What was your favorite part about growing up in the Frisco/Plano area?
My favorite part about growing up in Frisco was that there was always something to do.
What college did you graduate from and what was your degree?
I graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing. Wreck ‘Em!
Why did you choose to go to Texas Tech for school?
I went to Texas Tech because my sister was going to school there at the time and we have always been very close.
What were you involved in at school?
I was in a sorority called Alpha Chi Omega and I was also a part of the Texas Tech Marketing Association on campus.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I always thought it would be really cool to be a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep….until I shadowed one day and realized there was a lot of blood involved in that job!
What do you like to do for fun?
In my spare time, I go to the lake every chance I can get.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
If I could travel anywhere, I would have to say Greece. The architecture and the beaches are beautiful there.
Where did you work before Ranger?
I worked at Enterprise Holdings as a Management Trainee right after graduation.
What drew you to the staffing/sales industry and why did you choose to work at Ranger?
Before working at The Ranger Group, I wasn’t very familiar with how the staffing industry worked. I chose to work at Ranger because I would have the opportunity to create my own mark on the company. I also like the challenge of being a recruiter because it is a very fast paced role.
What Division do you recruit for and what do you like most about it?
I have always worked on the Technology Team. I like working on this team because you always learn something new talking to engineers.
What motivates you to work hard?
I would say creating a name for myself is what motivates me. I want to be remembered for a big accomplishment with Ranger.
Do you have a favorite recruiting moment?
My favorite recruiting moment is hitting $10k in spread (gross profit).
What is one of the biggest challenges you have had to overcome in your role?
Probably one of the biggest challenges I have had to overcome was getting stuck in a $3k spread rut for a few months.
Since you have been at Ranger for a little over a year, what advice do you have for someone looking to get into staffing/sales?
The biggest piece of advice I could give a new recruiter is consistency. It gets tough at times, but it definitely pays off. You have to keep showing up at the same time every day, keep hitting your activity goals, and keep a good attitude, even when times get tough!
What do you hope to accomplish professionally in 2018?
My biggest goal for 2018 is to break $16k in spread!
