Employee Spotlight: Patrick Jeter

The Ranger Group believes in providing a culture that promotes strong training and mentorship so that talent can be promoted from within the organization. Patrick Jeter has been with Ranger since July 2012 and was a very successful Recruiter in the Technology Division. In January, Patrick was ready for a new challenge and was promoted from Recruiter to Account Manager.

What college did you graduate from?

Fightin’ Texas Aggie c/o 2012!

Why did you join Ranger Group?

It was an opportunity to kick off my career with a start-up and watch it grow. I had opportunities to join larger companies, but I knew it would have been a long, slow ride to the top.

What is one of your most memorable moments as a Recruiter with Ranger?

Personally, hitting $17K in spread (gross profit). Also, contributing to a team that topped $30K.

What has been your favorite part of being an Account Manager so far?

The challenge and the hunt. In recruiting, everyone wants to talk to you. As an Account Manager, it’s the complete opposite and that’s what makes it fun.

What sets you apart from other Account Managers outside of Ranger?

My industry knowledge. It’s rare for someone to recruit as long as I did and then go sell that service to clients.

What are you professional goals at Ranger?

Endless promotions for those that start as a recruiter for me and becoming a practice manager for high-tech and running an office.

What motivates you?

Money and the fact that there are people in other companies that are trying to take what I want.

How do you motivate your team?

By working as hard as I can and making sure that attitude is contagious. I’ve struggled to be the vocal ‘cheerleader’ type, but I’m working on it.

How would your team describe your management style?

More hands off than it should be, honestly. I think they would say I am fair about my expectations of them. Spending as long as I did in the recruiting chair helps me understand them a little better.

What do you like to do for fun?

Play guitar, sim racing, and wood working. Between those and family, there aren’t enough hours in a day.

Words of wisdom for Recruiters about to get promoted into the Account Manager role at Ranger:

Be an open book. Be real with your team and make sure your vision is clear. All it takes is one person not rowing the boat to slow you down.
